Careereastern shore
One of America's greatest treasures, the Eastern Shore of Maryland is a hidden historical and cultural landmark. Laden with magnificent property, fantastic shopping, and a plethora of space for activities, the shore has something for everyone.
Location, Location, Location:
Our corporate office, in Preston, MD, is located ten miles east of Easton. A serene location, near the lovely Choptank River, means we are only moments away from some of the best docks and fishing spots in the county. Whether you are looking for a country drive or a picnic lunch, it's easy to find here in Preston. If you're not the country type, Easton offers the best of both worlds. The large town has a booming population and every modern amenity. From five star restaurants, to local cafes, from Target, to boutiques, you're sure to find what you need in this upscale suburban setting. Best yet, we're perfectly positioned just 30 miles from Annapolis, and an hour's drive to Baltimore, Washington, D.C, and Ocean City, Maryland. New York City is even within four hours reach and the Pocono's are only three. An hour's drive will also get you to our major international airport, BWI.
Living:
You're standard of living is up to you. Residential areas vary from estates to townhouses to affordable apartments. While Easton is known for its more urban, trendy living, Preston has the sprawling countryside. The Preston Elementary School boasts the title "National Title I Distinguished School", an honor only 54 schools in the nation have received. While Easton High School, a flagship school, intentionally offers the lowest student-teacher ratio in the state, offering extensive AP programs and individual attention. The Eastern Shore is a wonderful place for the whole family. Dock you boat, grab a bite at a crab house, or watch a beautiful sunset on an uninhabited island. It's all here.
History:
Talbot County, Maryland is one of the oldest centers of European settlement in the New World. It has over 600 miles of tidal shoreline, the most of any county in the United States. In contrast, while there is waterfront in Caroline County, the county has no Chesapeake Bay shoreline. What it lacks in water, it makes up for as "the land of pleasant living", with homegrown produce, historic homes, and sprawling wide landscapes. The town of Preston was founded in the late 1600's and is positioned less than a mile from the Choptank River, our namesake. In its heyday, Preston's largest company, and our parent company, AW Sisk, employed almost every man in town. The oldest company in the county, AW Sisk played a vital role in the importing and exporting of goods for the area. Whether you seek local authors, ghost walks, or historic tours, the shore has something for you to learn.
Recreation:
Unless you're trying, you just can't get bored. There's boating, fishing, local beaches, hiking, canoeing, kayaking, swimming, four wheeling, and hunting. Then, there's shopping, local gardens, parks, historic walking trails, wineries, local festivals, 25 open golf courses, and the most beautiful scenery you can imagine. There are ferries and harbors, prime outlets, malls, tennis and ice-skating. Whether you enjoy the towering skyline of Ocean City or the wild horses of Assateague, you'll find your place. Although the shore has remained a hidden treasure for quite some time, after the filming of "Wedding Crashers" and "Failure to Launch", the area has become more popular.
