G. Albert Turner

Chairman of the Board, Founder, and CFO

Mr. Turner received his B.A in accounting from East Carolina University before joining A.W. Sisk in 1970. He came aboard as Treasurer and saw tremendous opportunity in the eighty-year-old company, which had been in business since 1891, and for many years had been the hub of employment for the town of Preston. He took ownership in 1990 and founded Choptank Transport only nine years later. He believes "in order to maintain a strong company you need to maintain a strong balance sheet. It's also imperative that management delegates responsibility so that individuals can make the decisions that strengthen the company and their pride in it." This philosophy was proven successful in early June, when the Maryland Chamber of Commerce named Choptank Transport Maryland Small Business of the Year. "I am extremely proud of our young company" he exclaimed, "It's an excellent reflection of our people and their dedication!"

Geoff Turner

President and CEO

Geoff Turner's career in the transportation industry began over ten years ago. Mr. Turner says that he "always had an interest in supply chain management, because of its vital role in modern industry." This interest motivated him as he worked towards his Bachelor's degree in Business Management at University of Maryland's College Park Campus, and then his Master's degree in Business Administration at Salisbury University. Using his knowledge and experience from his business-focused education, Mr. Turner took a position as Vice President at Choptank Transport. As the company grew, Mr. Turner's role within the company grew with it. Through hard work, and wise business strategy, Mr. Turner became the President and CEO. Mr. Turner is also a member of the board and Treasurer of one of the transportation industries' most respected groups: the Transportation Intermediaries Association.

From the beginning Choptank Transport's "vision was to build a better company for customers, as well as employees," said Mr. Turner. This philosophy is evident in everything that Choptank Transport does, and has been reflected in the company's growth. "Providing superior service has made us stand out from the competition in a way we never thought possible," said Mr. Turner of the recent growth. He added that the growth "can be attributed to the people. The attitudes of our employees have allowed us to excel even in such a closely competitive market."

In 2008 Choptank Transport was awarded the Maryland Small Business of the Year award. This great honor "is a testament to the quality of people that work here, and to the vision we all have for the company," said Geoff when asked his reaction to the award. "This recognition is indicative of our ideas of customer service and reliability, and will also be indicative of things to come here at Choptank Transport."
